Remount the right front fender skirt.
3. Connect tem peratu re door cable and vacuum hoses
(hose to engine vacuum source attaches to vacuum
tank connection nearest the engine).
4. Connect the re frig e ra n t hoses to the expansion valve
in let and the P O A outlet using new "O " ring seals,
coated with clean re fr ig e r a tio n oil.
5. Connect the h eater hoses to the co re tubes (fig. 39).
6. Connect the b low er m otor w ire to the m otor flange
term in a l, and connect the battery ground cable.
7. R e fill the cooling system , and evacuate and charge
the re frig e ra tio n system .
HEATER CASE
Removal (Fig. 4 0 )
1. Drain the radiator.
Disconnect battery ground strap.
2. R em ove the heater hoses from the co re tubes.
3. R em ove the sheet m etal nuts fro m the heater case
studs which p ro je c t through the fir e w a ll to the engine
side.
4. R em ove the glove box.
5. Unplug the re la y connector.
6. R em ove the right b all outlet hose.
7. R em ove
the s c re w attaching the dash outlets a ir
distribu tor to the heater case and m ove distribu tor
away fro m case.
8. R em ove the heater case to fir e w a ll retaining screw s.
9. P u ll the h eater case away from
reach in and disconnect the re s is to r connector.
10. R em ove the r e s is to r harness grom m et and rem ove
the harness from
the case.

Installation
1. P la c e the heater case under the dash and in sert the
re s is to r harness and install the grom m et and con­
nect the re s is to r connector.
2. P o sitio n the heater case against the fire w a ll and
push it into place.

clip, and install the retaining screw .
4. Install the right dash outlet hose.
5. Connect the rela y connector.
6. Install the glove box.
7. Install the sheet m etal nuts to the heater case studs
which p ro ject fo rw a rd through the fire w a ll.
8. Attach the heater hoses to the core tubes and con­
nect battery ground strap.
9. R e fill the engine cooling system
operation.
HEATER CORE
Removal
1. Rem ove the heater case as outlined under Heater
Case.
2. R em ove
the
screw s
straps.
3. R em ove core.
Installation
1. In stall the core into the case and seal it with non­
hardening sealer.
2. Mount the co re with the core straps and retaining
screw s.
3.
R eplace the heater
case in the veh icle as outlined
under H eater Case.
WATER VALVE (Fig. 3 9 )
Removal
1. P la c e a container under the veh icle and then discon­
nect the shut-off va lve inlet and outlet lines.

2. Disconnect the va lve vacuum line and rem ove the
valve.
Installation
1. Install the coolant lines onto the new va lve, making
sure that coolant flow s through the va lve in the right
direction .
2. Install the vacuum line onto the valve.
3. R e fill the radiator.
EXPANSION VALVE
Removal
1. Disconnect
battery
system .
2.
Loosen the clamp retaining the high p ressu re line
to the bracket next to the expansion valve.
3. Disconnect the c a p illa ry bulb from the evaporator
outlet pipe.
Disconnect the equ a lizer line from the
P O A .
Cap the P O A connector.
4. Disconnect the expansion va lve inlet and outlet con­
nections and cap the lines.
5. Rem ove expansion valve to bracket mounting screw
and rem ove expansion valve.
Check that nothing is pinched
Install the heater
