Basic Inspection
BEFORE STARTING
1. Check service records for any recent
repairs that may indicate a related
problem, or the current need for
scheduled maintenance.
2. Open engine hood and check the
following:
Harness connectors for proper con-
nections
Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and
proper connections
Wiring for proper connections,
pinches, and cuts

CONNECT CONSULT TO THE VEHICLE.
Connect "CONSULT" to the diagnostic
connector and select "ENGINE" from
the menu. (Refer to page ES-124)

CHECK IGNITION TIMING.
Warm up engine sufficiently and check
ignition timing at idle using timing
light. (Refer to page ES-107)
