INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SIMULATION
In order to duplicate an intermittent problem, it is effective t o
create similar conditions for component parts, under which the
problem might occur.
Perform the activity listed under Service procedure and note the
result.

Service procedure
Remove vacuum hose and apply vacuum.
Remove vacuum hose and apply pressure.
Rotate distributor clockwise.
Rotate distributor counterclockwise.
Disconnect exhaust gas sensor harness connector.
Perform self-diagnosis at
2,000
rpm.
Tap or wiggle.
Race engine rapidly. See if the torque reaction of
the engine unit causes electric breaks.
Cool with an icing spray or similar device.
Heat with a hair drier.
[WARNING: Do not overheat the unit.]
Wet.
[WARNING: Do not directly pour water on
components. Use a mist sprayer.]
Turn on head lights, air conditioner, rear defogger,
etc.
Try t o flash timing light for each cylinder.
