E.C.C.S. DESCRIPTION
Control Unit Systems
Fail Safe System
The E.C.C.S. control unit incorporates a fail safe system which
allows it to substitute a preprogrammed value or utilize other sensor
information in place of the fail sensor/circuit. When this occurs, the

Throttle Position Sensor
If a fault occurs with the throttle sensor and/or its circuit, the control
unit will substitute a value equivalent to 2% of throttle opening.

If a fault occurs with the air flow meter and/or its circuit, the control
unit will substitute the throttle sensor signal to indicate engine load.
Water Temperature Sensor
If a fault occurs with the water temperature and/or its sensor, the
control unit will substitute a value equivalent to engine operation of
90°C.
Main Processor Failure
The E.C.C.S. control unit incorporates a back-up processor (known
