FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT
Check fuel pump fuse.
is it blown?
No

Probe fuel pu/p ckt AF66

with test light to earth.
Ignition "off" for 10 seconds.
Note light for 3 seconds after
ignition "on".
Disconnect fuel pump relay.
lgnition 'bff':
Probe circuit A105 with a test
light to the
"+"
battery
terminal.
Is test light on?
Light "on" for 3
Yes
No
Light stays "off"
N o
Yes
seconds. Then off.
Yes

Fuel Pump electrical
circuit is ok. To
complete testing of the
fuel delivery pressure
system. Continue to
Diagnostic Procedure 4.

Repair short to earth

Check for:

Open in circuit
AF66

Open pump earth
circuit 970
"on" steady.
Both Ok

Reconnect fuel pump relay
back probe circuit AF66 with
test light still connected to
"+"
battery terminal.
Is test light on?
No
on circuit A105.
Repair short
to earth on
Circuit AF66

pump by bridging ckt
A105 to AF66 on fuel
pump relay plug.
Turn ignition on.
Listen for fuel pump
running at fuel tank.
is pump running?
Replace
fuel pump
GO to

on the
next page.
Ok
Problem was either an
Shorted fuel pump
intermittent short to
earth in circuit AF66 or A105
-or- a defective fuse.
Reconnect fuel pump.
Replace fuse.
Ignition "on".
Recheck fuse.
Disconnect fuel pump electrical
connector.
Ignition ''off'!
Probe circuit AF66 with a test light
to the
"+
"
Battery terminal.
Is the test light on?
Replace Relay
