2.4 Troubleshooting

Symptom: A user cannot be redirected to the specified URL server, no matter what
URL the user enters in the IE address bar.
Solution:
If a user enters an IP address in a format other than the dotted decimal notation,
the user may not be redirected. This is related with the operating system used on
the PC. In this case, the PC considers the IP address string a name and tries to
resolve the name. If the resolution fails, the PC will access a specific website.
Generally, this address is not in dotted decimal notation. As a result, the PC
cannot receive any ARP response and therefore cannot be redirected. To solve
this problem, the user needs to enter an IP address that is not in the free IP range
in dotted decimal notation.
If a user enters an address in the free IP range, the user cannot be redirected. This
is because the switch considers that the user wants to access a host in the free IP
range, unconcerned about whether this PC exists or not. To solve this problem,
the user needs to enter an address not in the free IP range.
Check that you have configured an IP address in the free IP range for the Web
server and a correct URL for redirection, and that the server provides Web
services properly.
