cable upstream power-level
cable upstream power-level
To set the input power level for the upstream radio frequency (RF) carrier in decibels per millivolt
(dBmV), use the cable upstream power-level command in cable interface configuration mode. To
restore the default value for this command, use the no form of this command.

Usage Guidelines
The Cisco CMTS controls the output power levels of the CMs to meet the desired upstream input power
level. The nominal input power level for the upstream RF carrier is specified in decibels per millivolt
(dBmV). The default setting of 0 dBmV is the optimal setting for the upstream power level.
The valid range for the input power level depends on the data rate, as expressed as the symbol rate and
channel width.
specification. Higher (more positive) values cause the CMs to increase their transmit power, achieving
a greater carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR).

no cable upstream n power-level dbmv
Specifies the upstream port number. Valid values start with 0 for the first
upstream port on the cable interface line card.
Decibels per millivolt designating the upstream signal input power level.
Valid range is –16 dBmV to +26 dBmV, depending on the cable interface and
the upstream's symbol rate (channel width).
Modification
This command was introduced.
The allowable range of power levels was changed so that it depends on the
upstream's channel width.
