Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 3 and GND
is at least 10 volts.

Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 8 and GND
is at least 10 volts when ignition key is inserted in its
slot.

Faulty key switch . Replace harness or faulty connec-
tor contact between fuse box and unit.

Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 7 and GND
is at least 10 volts when ignition switch is set to
"ACC" .
No
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
ignition switch and unit.
Yes
Disconnect harness from unit . Check if resistance be-
tween terminal No . 9 of harness connector (R47) and
terminal No . 11 is at least 8 ohms . (*A)
Yes
Key lock solenoid circuit open .
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
key lock solenoid and unit.
No
Voltage is less than 4 volts .
No
Check if resistance between terminal No . 9 of har-
ness connector (R47) and GND is at least 1 K-ohm .
Yes
Replace shift lock unit .
Key lock solenoid shorted .
Yes
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
key lock solenoid and unit.
* After repairs, recheck for proper operation .
If still faulty, replace shift lock unit.
