C: TROUBLESHOOTING NO. 2 (SHIFT LOCK DOES NOT RELEASE .)
Check if stop light comes on when brake pedal is
No
depressed .
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 3 and GND
No
is at least 10 volts.
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 4 and GND
No
is at least 10 volts when brake pedal is depressed .
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 1 and GND
No
is at least 10 volts when ignition switch is turned
"ON" .
Yes
Turn ignition switch "OFF" .
Disconnect connector from shift lock unit.
Check if continuity exists between terminal No . 2 of I
No
connector (R47) and GND when shift lever is set at
P ,
Check stop light system .
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
main fuse and unit .
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
stop light switch and unit .
Check fuse .
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
ignition switch and unit.
Check inhibitor switch or repair harness .
Yes
Measure resistance between terminal No . 1 of con-
nector (R47) and GND .
Resistance is greater than 20 ohms .
No
Yes
Resistance is less than 10 ohms .
No
No
Check if resistance between terminal No. 10 of con-
nector (R47) and GND is less than 10 ohms .
Yes
Replace shift lock unit.
Shift lock solenoid circuit shorted . Repair harness or
faulty connector contact between shift lock solenoid
and connector (R47) .
Yes
Shift lock solenoid shorted or poorly grounded .
* After repairs, recheck solenoid operation .
If still faulty, replace shift lock unit.
Unit ground circuit open or poor, connector contact .
