TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM
D: TROUBLESHOOTING NO. 3 (KEY INTERLOCK DOES NOT OPERATE .)
Check if shift lock operates properly .
No
Check troubleshooting "No. 1" or "No. 2".
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 3 and GND
is at least 10 volts.
No
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
main fuse and unit .
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 8 and GND
is at least 10 volts when ignition key is inserted in its
slot.
No
Faulty key switch .
Replace harness or faulty connector contact between
fuse box and unit.
Yes
Check if voltage across unit terminal No . 7 and GND
is at least 10 volts when ignition switch is set to
"ACC" .
No
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
ignition switch and unit .
Yes

Disconnect harness from unit.
Check if resistance between terminal No . 9 of con-
nector (R47) and terminal No . 11 is at least 8 ohms .
Yes
Key lock solenoid circuit open . Repair harness or
faulty connector contact between key lock solenoid
I I and unit.
No
Voltage is less than 4 volts . (*A)
Key lock solenoid shorted .
Yes
Repair harness or faulty connector contact between
key lock solenoid and unit.
* After repairs, recheck for proper operation .
If still faulty, replace shift lock unit .
No
Check if resistance between terminal No . 11 of con-
nector (R47) and GND is at least 1 K-ohm .
No
Yes
Replace shift lock unit .
*A: When conducting operational checks of the key lock solenoid, do not apply 12 volts to solenoid for more than
one second, since this may break solenoid circuit .
