Inspect if engine coolant is mixed into the DEF injector

Was coolant mixed in with the injected DEF? (Was the fluid colored?)
Replace the DEF injector. (Coolant is leaking
into the DEF injector interior.)
After replacement. drain and flush all pas-
sages of coolant and DEF. and refill with the
proper coolant and DEF.
ENGINE (J05E)/TROUBLESHOOTING
Remove the DEF injector from the muffler and perform a HINO DX Ⅱ
activation test to check the DEF injection.

1. Set the starter switch to the "Lock" position and connect the vehi-
cle to HINO DX Ⅱ .
2. Remove the DEF injector from the muffler.
3. Set the starter switch to "ON" position and select [DCU] on HINO
DX Ⅱ .

(1) Select [Inspection Menu].
(2) Select [DEF solution addition test].
(3) Perform addition test as instructed on the HINO DX Ⅱ screen.
4. Check if coolant is mixed into the DEF injected from the DEF injec-
tor. (Check if the injected fluid contains the color of the coolant.)
YES NO
Procedure completed. (DEF was accidentally
added to the coolant.)
Drain and flush all passages of coolant. and
refill with the proper coolant.
