8 Check VSS
1) Turn OFF ignition switch.
2) Remove VSS.
3) Remove metal particles on end face of VSS, if any.
4) Connect connector to VSS.
5) Turn ON ignition switch.
6) Check for voltage at terminal "G04-24" of connector
connected to VSS by passing magnetic substance (iron)
(1) while keeping approximately 1 mm (0.03 in.) gap with
respect to end face of VSS.
Does voltage vary from low (0 – 1 V) to high (4 – 5 V) or from
high to low?
9 Check VSS signal rotor
1) Turn OFF ignition switch.
2) Visually inspect VSS signal rotor for damage.
Was any damage found?
10 Does speedometer indicate vehicle speed?
11 Check vehicle speed signal
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Disconnect combination meter connectors.
3) Turn ignition switch to ON position, without running
engine.
4) Measure voltage from terminal "PPL" wire of TCM
connector to ground.
Is voltage within 4 – 5 V?
12 Check vehicle speed signal circuit
1) Turn ignition switch OFF position.
2) Disconnect connector from TCM.
3) Turn ignition switch to ON position, without running
engine.
4) Measure voltage from terminal "PPL" wire of TCM
connector to ground.
Is voltage more than 4 V?
