BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)
4. Modulator Inspection by Replacing the Front
and Rear Modulators
Disconnect the (2), (3), (4) and (5) connectors
from the front and rear modulators. Connect the
(5) and (4) connectors to the front modulator,
and the (2) and (3) connectors to the rear modu-
lator conversely. Perform the pre-start self-
diagnosis and retrieve the problem code, and
record it.
Is any problem code indicated?
CODE 10 – Faulty ABS control unit.
CODE 11 – Faulty front modulator assembly.
Problem Code 11: ABS control unit (rear relay
circuit)
1. ABS Indicator Checking
• The ABS indicator blinks or comes on and
stays on when the ABS control unit has been
disrupted by an extremely powerful radio
wave (electromagnetic interference). This is
just a temporary symptom. Erase the prob-
lem code and the ABS control unit is normal
unless the symptom occurs again.
Turn the ignition switch to "ON" and check the
ABS indicator.
Is the indicator blinking?
NO
YES
2. ABS Indicator Function Inspection
Retrieve the problem code and erase it. Perform
the pre-start self-diagnosis and check the ABS
indicator.
Is the indicator blinking?
NO
YES
3. Check Problem Code
Retrieve the problem code and record the latest
problem code.
Is any problem code indicated?
CODE 11 – GO TO STEP 4.
OTHER THAN CODE 11 – Diagnose at the latest

– GO TO STEP 2.
– GO TO STEP 3.
– Normal (temporary failure). Fine foreign
matter in modulator or the ABS control
unit has been disrupted by an extremely
powerful radio wave. Check the connec-
tor
and
wire
harness
connection.
– GO TO STEP 3.
