Engine Oil Level Check - Honda GL1800 Service Manual

MAINTENANCE
Install the newly selected shims on the valve
retainers.
Install the valve lifters and camshafts (page 8-28).
Rotate the camshafts by rotating the crankshaft
counterclockwise several times.
Recheck the valve clearances.
Install a new gasket into the groove in the cylinder
head cover.
Apply sealant to the cylinder head as shown.
LUGS/BOLTS
Install and tighten the cylinder head cover bolts.
TORQUE: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft)
Install the rubber plugs.
Install the cylinder head side covers (page 3-8).
CYLINDER HEAD COVER
IMING HOLE CAP
Coat a new O-ring with grease and install it onto
the timing hole cap.
Apply grease to the timing hole cap threads.
Install and tighten the timing hole cap.
TORQUE: 18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft)

IL FILLER CAP/DIPSTICK
Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
Stop the engine, place the motorcycle on its center
stand on a level surface.
Remove the right engine side cover (page 2-5).
Wait for 2 or 3 minutes after stopping the engine.
Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe the oil
from the dipstick with a clean cloth.
