Saddlebag Open Switch Inspection; Open Switch Diode Inspection - Honda GL1800 Service Manual

Remove the retainer plate and lock cylinder from
the trunk opener unit.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
SADDLEBAG OPEN SWITCH
INSPECTION
Remove rear fender A (page 2-13).
Disconnect the saddlebag sub-wire harness 2P and
3P connectors (left: red connectors, right: blue
connectors).
Check for continuity between the Brown/red and
Green wire terminals of the saddlebag side
connectors.
There should be continuity with the saddlebag lid
open, and no continuity with the lid closed.

OPEN SWITCH DIODE INSPECTION

Remove the seat (page 2-5).
Remove the trunk/saddlebag open switch diode
from the wire harness.
Check for continuity between the diode terminals.
When there is continuity, a small resistance value
will register.
If there is continuity in one direction, the diode is
normal.
