enable stpd <spanning tree name> rapid-root-failover
Description
Enables rapid root failover for faster STP recovery times.
Syntax Description
spanning tree name Specifies an STPD name on the switch.

Disabled
Usage Guidelines
This command is used if there is a link failure. The port that is in FORWARDING state moves to
BLOCKING state, and it may take a long time to recover. If the port is a root port, it needs to recover
quickly, and this command is used for that purpose.
To view the status of rapid root failover on the switch, use the command. The
show stpd show stpd
command displays information about the STPD configuration on the switch including the
enable/disable state for rapid root failover.
Example
The following command enables rapid root failover on the STPD called Backbone_st:
enable stpd backbone_st rapid-root-failover
History
This command was first available in ExtremeWare 6.2.
This command was added to the Summit "e" series of switches in ExtremeWare 7.2e.
