configure stpd <spanning tree name> ports link-type edge <portlist>
edge-safeguard disable
Description
Disables RSTP on the specified edge port for the specified STPD.
Syntax Description
spanning tree name
Specifies an STPD name on the switch.
portlist
Specifies one or more ports or slots and ports. On a modular switch, can be a list of
slots and ports. On a stand-alone switch, can be one or more port numbers. May be in
the form 1, 2, 3-5, 2:*, 2:5, 2:6-2:8.
Default
By default this feature is disabled.
Usage Guidelines
This command applies only to ports that have already been configured edge ports.
Enabling RSTP on edge ports provides a loop detection mechanism (called "edge safeguard") without
preventing rapid network convergence of these ports. Edge ports with RSTP enter the forwarding state
within four seconds.
To view the status of the edge safeguard feature, use the
command. The
<portlist> {detail}
configuration on the switch, including the enable/disable state for edge safeguard. To enable or
re-enable edge safeguard, use the
<portlist> edge-safeguard enable
Example
The following command disables RSTP on edge port 4 in STPD s1 on a stand-alone switch:
configure stpd s1 ports link-type edge 4 edge-safeguard disable
The following command disables RSTP on slot 2, port 1 in STPD s1 on a modular switch:
configure stpd s1 ports link-type edge 2:1 edge-safeguard disable

This command was first available in ExtremeWare 7.5.
