neighbor-mac-address: MAC address of device that takes over to perform MAC address conversion
when the current device is not available. The multicast address is in the format of xxxx-xxxx-xxxx and with
the token ring byte order.
Usage guidelines
With the command configured, when the router receives a frame from a WAN, the router replaces the
source MAC address of the frame with the local MAC address. When the router receives a frame from
an Ethernet, the router replaces the destination MAC address of the frame with the MAC address of the
remote SNA device that has been replaced. This MAC address mapping solves the problems of the
Ethernet switches.
Also, the DLSw Ethernet redundancy provides a backup device for the MAC address translation function.
The active router can deliver its own MAC address translation rule to the backup router. The backup
occurs between only the primary and secondary routers. The secondary router can deliver its MAC
address translation rule to the primary router, and the primary router can also deliver its own MAC
address translation rule to the secondary router. When the active router fails, the backup router takes
over to perform MAC address translation until the active router restores.
Examples
# Enable switch support for DLSw Ethernet redundancy on interface Ethernet 1/1, and set the MAC
address of the local end to 8888-8888-8888, the remote SNA device to 0000- 1 738-6dfd, and the
device which will take over to perform MAC address translation to 00e0-0795-0000 when the current
device is not available.

dlsw ethernet-backup timer
Use dlsw ethernet-backup timer to configure the Ethernet redundancy timer, which specifies the time that
the primary router waits before sending a response to a virtual circuit assignment request from the
secondary router.
Use undo dlsw ethernet-backup timer to restore the default.
Syntax
dlsw ethernet-backup timer timer
undo dlsw ethernet-backup timer
