Usage guidelines
Two types of connections are available on an ATM subinterface: p2mp and p2p. In p2mp connection,
you can create multiple PVCs on the subinterface. In p2p connection, you can create just one PVC on the
subinterface.
Examples
# Enter the view of interface ATM1/0.
<Sysname> system-view
[Sysname] interface atm 1/0
[Sysname-Atm1/0]
# Create subinterface ATM 1/0.1, enter subinterface view, and set its connection type to point-to-point.
<Sysname> system-view
[Sysname] interface atm 1/0.1 p2p
[Sysname-Atm1/0]

interface virtual-ethernet

Use interface virtual-ethernet to create a Layer 3 VE interface or subinterface and enter the interface or
subinterface view.
Use undo interface virtual-ethernet to remove a Layer 3 VE interface or subinterface.
Syntax
interface virtual-ethernet { interface-number | interface-number.subnumber }
undo interface virtual-ethernet { interface-number | interface-number.subnumber }

Parameters
interface-number: Layer 3 VE interface number.
interface-number.subnumber: Layer 3 VE subinterface number, where interface-number is the main
interface number, and subnumber the number of a subinterface created under the interface. The value
range for the subnumber argument is 1 to 1024.
Usage guidelines
You cannot remove a Layer 3 VE interface that has been associated with a PVC.

# Create a Layer 3 VE interface Virtual-Ethernet 1.
<Sysname> system-view
[Sysname] interface virtual-ethernet 1
[Sysname-Virtual-Ethernet1]
# Create a Layer 3 VE subinterface Virtual-Ethernet 1.10.
