7. Upgrading

7.1 Outline

The host machine is upgraded by downloading from a PC, and upgrading consists in the
following:
• Formatting the hard disk drive (host machine HDD)
• Updating the system (host machine HDD)
• Updating the RUI (host machine HDD)
• Updating the Language (host machine HDD)
• Updating the boot ROM (DIMM ROM)

7.1.1 Download Mode

The host machine offers two ways of downloading, requiring care when deciding on
which one to use.
• Downloading in Download Mode
To start download mode,
1) While holding down '2' and '8' keys on the keypad at the same time, turn the power
switch.
2) Hold down the '2' and '8' keys until ' Download Mode' appears at the bottom of the
touch panel.

• Downloading in Service Mode
To start download mode,
1) Start service mode.
2) Make the following selections: COPIER>function>SYSTEM>DOWNLOAD. Then,
press [OK] to cause the host machine to start down loadstandby mode (notation
'STNDBY').
