Follow-up Procedure
After the fast VRRP backup group is created, perform the following operations to improve
network reliability:

Configure the fast VRRP backup group to monitor the upstream interface status and
associate the fast VRRP backup group with bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD) to
optimize master/backup VRRP switchovers.
Configure the fast VRRP backup group to monitor the upstream interface status.
1.
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The view of the interface where the fast VRRP backup group is configured is
displayed.
3.
Run:
vrrp vrid virtual-router-id track interface interface-type interface-
number [ increased value-increased | reduced value-reduced ]
The fast VRRP backup group is configured to monitor the status of a specified
upstream interface.
NOTE
A fast VRRP backup group can simultaneously monitor the status of up to 80 upstream
interfaces.
Associate the fast VRRP backup group with BFD.

Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
interface interface-type interface-number[.subinterface-number ]
The view of the interface where the fast VRRP backup group is configured is
displayed.
3.
Run:
vrrp vrid virtual-router-id track bfd-session { bfd-session-id |
session-name bfd-configure-name } [ increased value-increased |
reduced value-reduced ]
The fast VRRP backup group is configured to monitor the common BFD session
status.
vrrp vrid virtual-router-id track bfd-session { bfd-session-id |
session-name bfd-configure-name } [ peer | link ]
The fast VRRP backup group is configured to monitor the link BFD session or
peer BFD session status.
Configure the fast VRRP backup group as a management Virtual Router Redundancy
Protocol (mVRRP) backup group and bind service interfaces or pseudo wires (PWs) to the
mVRRP backup group. After a binding is configured, the mVRRP backup group determines
the master and backup VRRP status of the bound service interfaces or PWs.
Configure the fast VRRP backup group as an mVRRP backup group.
