with the highest VRRP priority is in the Master state and forwards traffic between users and
networks.
Context
A single VRRP IPv6 backup group only works in master/backup mode. routers in the VRRP
IPv6 backup group have different priorities. The router with the highest VRRP priority is in the
Master state and others are in the Backup state.
Two or more VRRP IPv6 backup groups can work in load balancing mode. Each router has
different priorities in different VRRP IPv6 backup groups. Repeat the following procedure to
configure VRRP priorities so that various VRRP IPv6 backup groups have different master
routers.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
vrrp6 vrid virtual-router-id priority priority-valuerouter
A priority value is set for a VRRP IPv6 backup group.
The larger the value, the higher the priority. The default priority value is 100.

Attributes
VRRP IPv6 Advertisement packet attributes can be configured to improve the VRRP IPv6
backup group's capability to send and process VRRP Advertisement packets.
Context
VRRP IPv6 Advertisement packets are used to advertise the master router's priority value and
status to other VRRP IPv6 routers in a VRRP IPv6 backup group. Sending the VRRP IPv6
Advertisement packets helps implement status transition and master election. VRRP IPv6
packets have the following attributes:

NOTE
l The priority value 0 is reserved for special use. The priority value 255 is reserved for the IP address
owner. The priority value of the IP address owner cannot be configured. Priority values 1 through 254
can be set.
l If devices have the same VRRP IPv6 priority, the device enters the Master state earlier than others is
the master device. Other devices are backup devices and stop preempting the master state.
