the PGM-
FI has memory
data, the MIL
does not blink
while the engine
is running.
Turn the ig nition switch ON and engine stop switc h to
RUN.
If the ECM has no self diagnosis memory data. the
MIL will illuminate when you turn the ig nition switch
ON.
If the ECM has self diag nosis memory data, the MI L
will
start
blinking when you t urn t he ign it ion sw itch
ON.
Note how many times the MIL blinks, and determine
the cause of the problem (page 5-10 through 5-491.

SELF-DIAG NOS IS RESET PROCEDURE
1. Turn the engine stop switch to RU N and ig nit ion
switch OFF.
2. Short t he service check connecto r of the PGM- Fl
system us ing a jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
4. Remove the jumper wire from the service check
connector.
5. The M IL lig hts for about 5 seconds.
While t he in dicato r lig hts, short t he serv ice check
connector again
w ith
th e j um per wire .
Self diag nosis memory data is erased, if the MIL
turns off and starts blinking.
The service check connector must be jumped while
the indicat or lig hts. If not, the M IL w ill not start
blinkin g.
Note t hat the self d iagn osis memory data cannot be
erased if you turn off t he ignition switch before the
MIL starts bl inking.
If the MI L blinks 20 times, the data has not been
erased , so t ry again.
