TACHOMETER
SYSTEM INSPECTION
Rem ove th e headl ight unit (page 19-5).
Disconnect the comb ination me te r
gp
(Black)
connector.
Check for loose or poo r contact te rm inals of the com-
bination meter.
W ith the ignition sw itch ON , meas ure the vo ltage at
the com bination meter 9P (black) connnector.
CONNECTION:
Black/brown
(+) -
Ground
H
Standard: Battery voltge
If the re is no voltage, check for the following :
- Circuit in Blacklbrown w ire
- Batt ery
- fuse (10A)

Peak voltage tester (U.S .A. only)
Peak voltage adaptor 07HGJ -0020100
(not available in U.SA)
with commercially available digita l m ult imeter
(im pedance 10 M n/DCV minimum)

Connect the combination meter 9P (Black) connecter.
Conn ect the peak voltage adaptor to the tacho met er
Yellow/g reen
(+)
ter mina l and ground.
Start the engine and mea sure the tachom eter input
peak vo ltage.
PEAK VOLTAGE : 10.5 V minimum
If the value is normal, replace the combination meter
assembly.
If the measured value is below 10.5 V, replace the
ECM .
