CYLINDER HEAD IN SPECTI ON
Mark a/l parts dur-
ing disassembly
so they can be
placed back
in their original
locations.
Avoid damaging
the gasket
surface.
Remove the valve spring cotters using the special
tools as shown .
TOOLS :

I
To prevent loss
of
tension, do not compress the valve
springs more than necessary to rem o ve the cotters.
Remove the f ollowing :
- Spring ret ainer
- Valve spring
- Valve
- Stem seal
- Valve spring seat
CYLINDER HEAD
Remove carbon deposits from the combustion cham-
ber, being careful not to damage the gaske t surface.
Check the spark plug hole and valve areas f or cracks.
Check the cylinder head for warpage wi th a straight
edge and feele r gauge.
