nut threads an d seat ing surfaces and install the m .
Tighten the cap nuts in 2 or 3 steps.
TOROUE: 34 N' m (3.5 kqf-m, 25 Ibf·ll)
Rem ove th e nu t s and bearing cap .
Measure the com p ressed plastigauge at its w idest
point on the crankpin to determine the oil clearance.
If t he oil clearance exceeds th e service li mi t, select th e
co rrect re placem ent bea rin gs.

Record the connect ing rod I.D. code number (1 or 2)
or mea su re the I.D. with t he bearing cap in st all ed
without bea ring in serts.
If you are replaci ng the crankshaft, record the co rre-
sponding crankp in 0 .0 . code number (A or B).
If yo u are reusing the crankshaft, measure the cra nkpin
0.0. w it h th e m icro meter.
Cross-reference the crankp in and rod cod es to determine
the replacement bearing color.
