IGNITION SYSTEM
Con nect the peak voltage tester or peak voltage ad ap-
tor probes to the connector t erm ina l of t he w ire her-
ness si de and g roun d.
TOOLS:
Peak voltage tester (U.S.A. on ly)

(not available in U.S.A.)
with commercially available digital multi meter
(impedance 10 M Q/DCV minimum)
CONNECTION:

Crank t he engine w ith the sta rte r m otor and read the
peak v ol tage.
PEAK VOLTAGE: 0.7 V minimum
If the pea k vo lta ge m easu red at th e ECM multi-con -
nect or is abnorma l, m easure t he peak vo ltage at the
ig niti o n pulse ge nerator connector.

nect or and co nnect the teste r probes to the t erm in al
(Yello w and W hit e/y ellow) .
In the sa me man ner as at the ECM co nnecto r, mea -
sur e t he peak vo ltage and co m pare it t o th e vo lt age
m easured at th e ECM co nnect o r.
If th e peak voltage measured at the ECM is abnor-
mal and the one measured at the ignit ion pu lse
generato r is no rma l, the w ire harness has an open
circuit o r loose co nnection.
If th e pea k vo lt ag e is lower t ha n sta nda rd val ue,
follow t he check s describ ed in th e trou blesh ootin g
chart (page 17-3 ).
Install th e rem oved pa rts in the rev ers e order of
rem ov al.
