COOLING SYSTEM
THERMOSTAT
THERMOSTAT REMOVAL
Open and support the front end of fuel tank
(page 3-4).
Drain th e coolantl page 6-5).
Rem ove the bolts and the rmostat housing cover.
Rem ove the O-ring from the t hermostat housing
cover.
Rem ove t he t hermostat f rom t he ho usi ng .
Do not J et the
thermostat or
therm ometer
touch the pan, or
you
will
get
a
false reading.
INSPECTION
Wear insulated g loves and adequate eye protection.
Keep flammable materials away from the electric
he ating ele ment.
Vis ually inspect t he the rmostat fo r damage.
Heat the wate r with an electric heating element to
operating tempe rat ure fo r

min utes.

operatio n.
Repl ace t he t hermostat
if
the valve stays open at
ro om te mperature, or
if
it res ponds at te mperat ures
ot he r tha n t hose specified.

VALVE LIFT:
8 m m (0.3 in ) minimum at 95 "C (203 "F)
