A hoist or equ ivalent is required to support th e motorcycle when removing and ins talli ng the eng ine .
A floor jack or other adjustable support is required to support and maneuver the engine.
Do not use t he oil filter as a jacking point .
The followi ng co mponents require engi ne rem oval fo r service.
- Crankcase, transm iss ion (Section 11)
- Crankshaft pis ton/cylinder (Section 12)
- Shift f or k, shift d rum (Section 12)

When installing the engine, be sure to tig hte n th e engine mounti ng fasten ers to th e specified torqu e in t he spec ified
sequ ence. If yo u m istake the tighte n torque or sequence, loosen all mounting fasten ers, then ti g hte n them aga in to the spec-
ifie d t o rqu e in t he correct sequence.
