Check the mainshaft and co untershaft for abnormal
wear or damage.
Measure the mai nshaft 0 .0. at the M5 gear.

SERVICE LIMIT: 27.96 mm (1.101 in )
Calculate th e gear bushing-ta-shaft clearance.
SERVICE LIMITS:
M 5: 0.08 mm (0.003 in)

Turn the outer race of each bea ring with your fi nge r.
The bearings shou ld t urn smooth ly and quietly.
Also check that the bearing inner race fits tightly on
the shaft.
Rem ove and discard t he malnshaft bearing if the race
does not t urn smoothl y, quiet ly, or fi t s loosely on the
m ainshaft .
Replace the co unters haft, co lla r. and bearin g as an
asse mbly if the race does not t urn smooth ly, qu ietly,
or fits loosely on the co unt ershaft.
MAINSHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT
Press out t he mai ns haft f ro m the bearing usin g a
hydraulic press.

Install with
the groove side
facing up.
