IGNITION SYSTEM INSPECTION
If t here is no spa rk at any pl ug , check all con nec-
tions for loose or poor contact before measuring
each peak voltage .
Use a recomm ended digital mul tim eter or com me r-
cially available digital mu lt imeter with an im ped-
ance of 10 M
O/DCV
minimum.
T he display value differs depending upon the inter-
nal im pedance of the mu ltimeter.
If the Imr ie diagnostic teste r (model 625) is used,
follow th e manufactu rer's instruction.
Conne ct th e pea k volt age tester or peak volta ge adap-
tor to the digit al multimeter.

Check all system con nections before inspection. If
the system is disconnected, incorrect peak vo ltage
mig ht be measured.
Check cylinde r comp ression and check that the
spark plugs are installed correctly.
Op en and su pport th e f ront en d of the fu el tank
(page 3-4).
Shift the transmission into neutral and disconnect all
the spark plu g caps from th e spa rk plug.
Connect known good spark plugs to the spark plug
caps and gr oun d the spa rk plugs to t he cy lind er head
as do ne in a spark test .
