CLUTCH/GEARSHIFT LINKAGE

PRIMARY DRIVE GEAR/SUB -GEAR

Al ign the gear teeth of t he scissors gears (pri mary
drive gea r and sub-gear) by inserting a screwdrive r
into the gear ho le indicat ed
by
the pu nch mark on th e
sub -qear through the ho le in the crankcase , and
rem ove t he cl utc h o ute r.
Remove the clutch outer guide.
Be careful not to
ben d the igni tion
pu lse generator
rotor tangs.
Remove the oil pump driven sprocket bolt/washer.
Rem ove the o il pump d rive /d rive n sp rocke t and drive
cha in as an assembly.
INSPECTION
LIFTER BEARING
Clutch lifte r bearing
Turn th e in ner race of t he lift er bearin g w ith you r
finge r.
The bear in g shou ld tu rn smoothly and qu iet ly.
A lso check tha t the oute r race of the bearing fits ti ght-
ly
in t he press ur e plate .
Replace the bearing
if
th e inner race does not t urn
smoothly, qu ietly, o r if the outer race fits loosely in t he
pressure pl at e.
Drive th e bearin g o ut of the pr essure pl at e.

Dri ve a new bea rin g into t he pressu re plate w it h it s
m ar k side facin g out.
