CHARGING SYSTEM INSPECTION
Do nor disconnect
the
battery
Of any
cable in the charg-
ing system
with-
out first switching
off the ignition
switch.
Failure
to
follolN
this precaution
can damag
e
the
tester
or electrical
comoooents.

CURRENT LEAKAGE INSPECTION
Rem ove the battery (page
15-5).
Turn the ignition switch off and d
isconnect
the
nega-
tive battery cab
le
f
ro m
the battery.
Connect the
ammeter
(+)
probe to the ground cable
and the ammeter
(-)
probe to the battery (-) terminal.
With the ignition switch off, check for current
leakage.

NOTICE
I
When
measuring
current using a tester, set
it
to a
high range, and then bring the range down to an
appropriate lev el.

While measuring current, do not turn the ignition
on.

CHARGING VOLTAGE INSPECTION
Be su

good cond
ition

rming
this test.
Warm
up
the
eng
ine t
o normal ope
rating
te
mperature.
Stop the engine, and connect the multimeter as
shown.
To prevent a short, m
ake
absolutely certain whic
h
are
the
positive and
negative te
rminals
or
cable.
Restart the eng
ine
.
With the headlight on Hi beam, measure the voltage
on the m
ultimeter
w
hen
the engine runs at 5,000 rpm.
