CRANKCASE/PISTON/CYLINDER
PISTON ASSEMBLY
Carefully inst all the piston rings into the piston ring
grooves with their marking facing up.
Apply oil to the piston rings
.
Avoid piston and piston ring damage during
installation.
Install the piston rings with the marking facing up
.
Do not mix the top and second rings; top ring is nar
-
row er than the second ring in width
.
Stagger the piston ring end gaps
120·
apart from
each other.
Stagger the side ra
il
end gaps as shown.

SPACER
Install the
piston
so that
the
"IN
"
mark
faces
the
same
direct
ion
as
the oil
hole
in the
connecting rod.

PISTON INSTALLATION
Apply molybdenum oil solution to the connecting
rod small end inner surfaces and piston pin outer
surfaces.
Install the piston pin into the piston and
connecting
rod
.
Install new piston pin clips into the grooves of the pis-
ton pin
hole.
Make sure that the
piston
pin clips seat
securely.
Do not align the piston
pin
cl
ip
end gap with the
pis-
ton
cut-out.
App
ly
engine o
il
to t
he
cylinder wall, piston and pis
-
ton
rings.
Inst all the
piston/connecting
rod assembly int o the
cylinder using a commercially available piston ring
compressor tool.
