ELECTRIC STARTER
Inst all the sta rter moto r cabl e, th en tighten th e ter m i-
nal nut t o th e spec ified t orqu e.
TORQU E: 12 N-m (1.2 kgf-m. 9 Ibl-ttl
Install th e rubber cap securely.
STARTER RELAY SWITCH
OPERATION IN SPECTION
Rem o ve the rig ht side co ve r (page 2-2),
Shift th e t ransmi ssio n into neutr al.
Turn th e ign it ion switc h ON and eng ine stop switc h
to RUN.
Push t he starter switch butt o n.
Th e coi l is normal if t he starter relay switch clicks.
If yo u do n't hear the swit ch " CLICK, " in spect t he relay
switch using the proced ure below .
GROUND LIN E INSPECTION
Di sconnect the sta rt er relay switch 4P connecto r.
Check fo r co nt inu ity between the Green/red w ire
(g ro und Iinel an d ground.
If t he re is co ntinuity wh en th e tran smi ssi on is in neu-
tral or w he n th e cl ut ch is di sengag ed an d the sid e
stan d switch is retr acted, the g round ci rcu it is no rma l
(In ne ut ral , t here is a slight resistan ce du e t o the
d iode).
STARTER RELAY VOLTAGE INSPECTION
Connect t he sta rt er rela y switch 4P co nn ect or.
Shift t he transmi ssi on in to neutral.
Me asure th e vo ltage between th e Yellow/red wire t er-
m inal
(+)
an d grou nd H .
If the battery volta ge appears on ly wh en the sta rter
switch is pushed with the ignition switch ON and
eng ine sto p switch at RUN, it is norm al.
