CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
VALVE GUIDE REPLACEMENT
Chill t he repl acement valve guides in the freezer sec-
t ion of a refr igerat or for about an hour.
Heat the cylinder head t o 100 - 150'C (2 12 - 300'F )
with
a
hot plate o r oven.

I
Do not use a torch
to
heat the cylinder head;
it
m a y
cause warping.
Su pport th e cylinde r head an d d riv e o ut th e
valve gu ides from the combustion cha mber side of th e
cylinde r head .
Dr iv e in the guide to the specified depth from the top
of t he cyli nde r head.

Use cutting oil on
the reamer during
this operation.

SPECIFIED DEPTH:
IN : 14.5 - 14.7 mm 10.57 - 0.58 in)
EX: 14.8 - 15.0 mm 10.58 - 0.59 in)
Let the cy li nder head coo l to room tempe rat ure .
Ream the new valve guide after installation.
Insert the ream er f rom the combust ion chamber
side of the head and always rotate the rea me r
clockwise.
TOOL:
V alve guide reamer. 4.508 mm 07HMH-ML0010l
Clean the cyl inder head t horoughly to rem ove any
metal particles.
Ref ace the valve seat (see following steps).
