Turn
the
crankshaft
clockwise,
align the
"
T
" mark on
the ig
nition
pu
lse
ge
nerato r
rotor w
ith
the in
dex
mark
on the rig ht
cr
ankcase
cover.
The tim
ing
marks
("
IN" and "
EX" )
on the cam
sprock-
ets must be flush w
ith
the cylinder head surface and
facing o
utwa rd
as
shown.
If the timing marks on the
cam
sp
roc ket
faci
ng
inward, t
urn
the cra
nkshaft cloc kw ise
one
full
turn
(360')
and realign t
he
ti
mi ng
ma
rks
with
t
he cylinder
head surface so they are fac
ing
outward.
Record the ctesr-
ance for each
valve for refer-
ence in shim
selection
if
adjust
-
ment
is
required

Insert the feeler gauge between the va
lve
lifter
and
the cam lobe.
Check
the va
lve
cle
arance for the No
.1
and
NO.3
cyl
in-
der intake valves using
a
feeler
gauge
.
