2.7 User PLC Data Area Configuration and Size

2.7 User PLC Data Area Configuration and Size
The approximate configuration and size of user PLC data area are as shown below.
The areas, the sequence program area and the data area of the figure below are created in order from project 1.
The setting of the number of projects and the area size of each project can be changed by the multi-project parameter setting.
(Refer to "11.3.3 Multi-Project Setting Parameter (Device Setting)")
The length of one instruction (step No.) is different from the instructions that are stored in the storage area and the execution
area because the sequence program in storage area is converted and stored in the execution area. (Refer to "2.8.2
Conversion of Instruction Code at Execution")
Therefore, the size of execution area is ensured to be twice bigger to store the data in the execution area as much as possible
even when the storage area is used to the maximum.
Although machine sequences and user safety sequences have separate storage areas for sequence programs, they share
the execution area. Therefore, increasing the execution area for user safety sequences decreases the execution area for
machine sequences by the same amount.

(2) Sequence program storage area
Programs can be stored independently for each project.
The total number of steps which can be stored for all projects is as follows.
[Total storage area]
- M800V
- M80V Type A, M80VW
- M80V Type B
The area which can be used for execution in this area is as follows.
[Total execution area]
- M800V
- M80V Type A, M80VW
- M80V Type B
(3) Data storage area (Other than sequence program)
Data other than the sequence program can be stored independently for each project.
This applies to the following data.
- Alarm messages
- Operator messages
- PLC switches
- Contact/coil comment data
- Symbolic information, etc. (*3)
The total size of the storable data of all projects is as follows.
