Configuring network interfaces
Switch the cellular carrier firmware
You can switch the cellular carrier firmware for the router's cellular module.
Depending on the cellular module running on the router, there are several methods available for
switching cellular carrier firmware. See
version.
Some cellular modules require using the Carrier Switching Wizard in the web interface to
n
switch carrier firmware.
Some cellular modules, such as the Sierra Wireless MC7455, have all supported carrier
n
firmware available on the module. For these modules, use the carrier command to switch
carrier firmware.

Older cellular modules that do not support automatic SIM detection perform carrier switching through
the Carrier Switching Wizard in the web interface.
1. If necessary, verify which carrier firmware is currently running on the cellular module. See

2. Verify that the router has enough available flash space to receive the firmware files.
3. (Optional) Depending on available router flash space, delete any unused *.cwe files to free up
space in the flash directory. Use the del command to delete files. For example:
Go to Administration > File Management > FLASH Directory.
n
Select the file or files to delete.
n
Click Delete Selected Files.
n
4. Load the carrier firmware images for the carrier in flash or USB drive, if they are not already
loaded there.
5. Go to Wizards > Carrier Switching Wizard and click Next.
