5.5 Command Line Interface (CLI)
CLI commands are used to manage the R Class series for displaying and modifying configuration of
the various elements within the system.
Use one of the following methods to open a CLI session with the R Class series:

Connect the switch console port to a management station. For information about connecting to
the console port, refer to

Open a Telnet session from a remote management station. The switch must have network IP
connectivity with this remote management station.
Changes made by one Telnet user are reflected in all other Telnet sessions.
To Access R Class series via Telnet
Use any Telnet client application. The following example relates to Windows OS.
Start the "Run" option and in the command line enter:
"telnet XX.XX.XX.XX" (IP address of the R Class series)
The Telnet screen prompts for a username and password.
Username: moose
Password: 1234
SSH Configuration
Secure Shell or SSH is a network protocol that allows exchange of data between two networked
devices using a secure channel. SSH has been designed to replace Telnet and other insecure remote
applications. The encryption deployed by SSH provides integrity of data.

HTTP Secure (HTTPS)
The R Class series supports secured web interface sessions using the HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) protocol.
HTTP is an acronym for Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer. It is used to indicate a
secure HTTP connection.
HTTPS provide authentication and encrypted communication and is widely used on the World Wide
Web for security-sensitive communication such as payment transactions and corporate logons.
