3 Getting Started

3.1 Quick Setup Outline

To set up the R Class models carry out the following steps:
Mount the device at its location (rack or desktop).

Install the SFP transceivers.

Connect the unit to a console and a power source (Figure 3-1).

Verify that the Power (PS1, PS2 or both) LEDs are green lit.

Connect required cables to ports: twisted pair (RJ45 Ethernet) and fiber (Ethernet SFPs).

Verify that the ports Link and Speed LEDs are lit per connected interfaces.

Configure the selected device via the console to assign management IP address or use default IP

address (192.168.1.90)
Establish management access via SSH, Telnet or Web GUI (4.1.2).

Note: Remote management requires basic IP configuration.
