4.4.3 Inspecting the ball screw spline unit

Action
Release the holding brake by pressing the button
on the internal brake release unit.
Move the outer arm to a position where the axis 3
can be moved in full stroke.
Press the brake release button and move the shaft
to its upper and lower limits manually.
Visually inspect:
• the stop blocks on the ball screw spline unit
• the shaft of the ball screw spline unit
Look for abrasions, cuts or crush damages on the
spline, and grease amount on the shaft.
Apply grease to the shaft if it is not enough.
Replace the ball screw spline unit if wear or dam-
age is detected.
