15. Pull the vacuum interlock handle down to close the interior ball valve.

16. Twist the end of the vacuum interlock handle and flip the swing handle up so that it rests
next to the vacuum interlock knob location. Then twist the end again to hold it in place.
CAUTION INSTRUMENT DAMAGE: Do not move the main interlock handle when you
move the swing handle to the up position or you will open the interior ball valve, which
might cause you to lose vacuum and possibly damage the instrument.
17. Remove the tool from the instrument.
18. Reattach the vacuum interlock knob.
Tip To prevent leaks in the vacuum interlock, we recommend that you leave the
vacuum interlock knob attached to the instrument, except when you are removing or
inserting the ion source cartridge. After you reattach the knob, press the Evacuate
button will also eliminate any air inside the vacuum interlock.
19. For optimal performance, wait at least 30 minutes for the ion source to heat up to the
same temperature as the inside of the instrument. Otherwise, the masses or intensities
may drift during operation.
1. Click Shut Down on the TSQ Series Dashboard.
