IDLE SPEED CHECK/ADJUSTMENT

INSPECTION
Check the following before starting the idle speed
inspection.
– Battery must be in good condition
– Boat equipment (electrical loads) must be removed
– Spark plug inspection (page 3-15)
– MIL must be OFF
Place the outboard motor vertically (with the engine
level to the ground), and set the remote control lever in
the "N" (Neutral) position.
Remove the engine cover.
Remove the propeller. Set the outboard motor gear
case in a test tank filled with water.
USING THE Dr.H
Remove the dummy connector [1] from the DLC and
connect the Dr.H [2].
Start the engine.
Wait until the engine speed stabilizes under no load,
and check the idle speed.
SPECIFIED IDLE SPEED (AT NEUTRAL):
750 ± 50 min
• If the idle speed is outside the specification, perform
the ADJUSTMENT procedure on page 3-21.
USING THE DIGITAL TACHOMETER (KOWA: KEK-
8-MT600)
Remove the dummy connector [1] from the engine
speed check 2P connector.
Connect the connector cable (KOWA: KEK-8-MT600-
ATHM) [2] to the engine speed check 2P connector.
Connect the connector cable pin jack [3] to the digital
tachometer (KOWA: KEK-8-MT600).
Start the engine.
Wait until the engine speed stabilizes under no load,
and check the idle speed.
SPECIFIED IDLE SPEED (AT NEUTRAL):
750 ± 50 min
• If the idle speed is outside the specification, perform
the ADJUSTMENT procedure on page 3-21.
