CYLINDER HEAD
Use a socket [1] that matches the diameter of the valve
spring retainer. Attach the socket to the retainer, and
lightly tap on the socket to separate the valve keepers
from the retainer.
• Tap straight down on each valve stem head. Take
care not to bend the valve.
• Support the cylinder head with a suitable material to
prevent damage to the valve.
Compress the valve springs using the special tool as
shown.
TOOL:
Valve spring compressor [1]
Remove the two valve keepers [2] from the groove in
the valve stem.
Remove the valve spring retainer [1], valve spring [2],
valve [3], valve stem seal [4], and the valve spring seat
[5] from the cylinder head.
Check the valve for chipping and excessive carbon
deposits. Clean the valves if necessary
Check the cylinder head parts (page 14-32).
