The PTX5000 Switch Interface Boards (SIBs) form the switch fabric for the router. Each PTX5000
contains nine SIBs located at the center rear of the chassis in the slots labeled SIB0 through SIB8 (top to
bottom). SIBs are hot-insertable and hot-removable.
SIB Function
SIBs create the switch fabric for the PTX5000.
