Step Checks
1 Slide the cassette in and out. Is the
sound of the lifter falling and the
lifter motor turning heard?
2 Is the drive belt routed properly?
3 Are the right front cover, left front
cover, right lower cover, and left
cover closed properly?
4 Is the leading edge of copy paper as
far as the registration roller
assembly?
5 Does the Add Paper message
remain on even when the Copy
Start key is pressed?
6 Are the dimensions of copy paper
placed in the cassette as indicated?
7 Is the drive from the pickup motor
transmitted to the cassette holder
through the gear normally?
8 Does the pickup/separation/feed
roller rotate?

Route the drive belt
properly.
Close the covers
properly.
See "The registration
roller fails to rotate."
Check the paper sensor.
Replace the paper with
paper of recommended
dimensions.
Check the gear.
· Check the pickup/
separation/feed roll.
· Check the guide plate
for deformation and
foreign matter.
