1. INTRODUCTION

Thank you for choosing this EBARA GSD pump model. This operating
manual describes the correct installation, operation and maintenance

procedures of the product. EBARA pays great attention to the ma-
nufacturing of its products so that their use by end-users may be as
safe as possible. However, using this pump improperly may reduce
its operating performance and lead to personal injury and damage
to property.
Therefore read all the manuals carefully before putting the pump into
operation. The original language of the redaction for this operating in-
struction is Italian, and which will prevail in the event of discrepancies
in the translations. For further information, or if there are questions
concerning the correct interpretation or the instructions, contact your
closest authorised reseller or service centre, specifying the data iden-
tifying the pump located on the DATA PLATE (see chapter 7. TECH-
NICAL DATA).
This manual is intended for:
• installers assigned by the manufacturer/distributor to install the
machine and perform extraordinary maintenance, specialised and
qualified personnel for transportation, installation, first start-up and
extraordinary maintenance operations;
• companies assigned to operating the machine, personnel assigned
to operating, cleaning and performing ordinary maintenance;
• companies assigned to dismantling of the unit.
This manual is an integral part of the machine as an essential safety
remainder and must be kept in a safe place that allows easy consul-
tation until the product is dismantled. The company reserves the right
to change the supplied technical documentation, if necessary, without
updating previously issued documentation.
The instructions were prepared in compliance with Machine Directive
2006/42/EC, annex I, paragraph 1.7.4.
THE REPRODUCTION, EVEN PARTIAL, OF THE ILLUSTRA-
TIONS AND/OR TEXT HEREIN IS FORBIDDEN.
When this device is delivered:
1. Check the data plates. It is very important to check the voltage rating
for the pump. Also, check the value of the head, the capacity and
the RPM of the pumps, as well as the maximum absorption of the
motors.
2. Recheck the equipment to ensure no damage has occurred during
start-up or transportation such as breakages or dents. Also check
that there are no loose screws or connections. If this has happened,
inform the seller within 8 days of delivery.
3. Check that all the accessories, spare parts and required options are
included within the supply.
PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE INSTRUCTIONS AND TO
CHAPTER 4. SAFETY. HANDLING, MAINTENANCE AND START-
UP OF THE MACHINE SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY AT LEAST
TWO ADEQUATELY TRAINED PERSONS.

4. SAFETY

This instruction and maintenance manual includes the basic in-
structions that should be taken into consideration during installation,
operation and maintenance of the equipment. Please, pay particular
attention to the following symbols.

In addition to the safety instructions found in this manual, it is also
necessary to take into account the safety regulations and standards in
force in the country where you want to use the equipment, in order to
achieve greater protection.
Disregarding the safety instructions shown in this manual may lead to
risks to persons and equipment.
4.1 PREPARATION AND TRAINING OF STAFF
The personnel involved in the installation, operation, maintenance and
control of the equipment must be properly trained in order to carry
out their tasks as effectively as possible. The responsibility, skills and
supervision of the personnel fall within the remit of the employer. If
the staff do not have the appropriate knowledge, they must be duly
trained. If required, the employer may receive proper training directly
from EBARA or from the distributor of this equipment.
