12. Press PRIME. The plotter will fire the heads and plot the prime
pattern. Examine the pattern for the following problems:

13. The plotter has passed the PRIME test if misfiring is no longer
observed using a second set of Cartridges.

gaps or fuzzy lines in the sloping horizontal lines.
prime the heads at least 3 times to make sure all inkjets are
firing.
If the inkjets still misfire, press ACCESS CARTRIDGE. Pull
out the misfiring Cartridge and immerse its jet plate in an
ultrasonic cleaner for about 20 seconds, gently blot dry, and
reinstall it in the Carriage. (The jet plate should not rest on
the bottom of the ultrasonic cleaner.) Repeat the prime
test.
If failure is still evident, pull out the Cartridge and replace it
with a new Cartridge and repeat the test. Make sure that
there is no misfiring using the new Cartridge. If misfiring is
observed, contact ENCAD's Technical Support and Service
department (see Chapter 1, Section 3.0.).
