Troubleshooting
Figure Chapter 4 .7 below shows the Black Cartridge Flex Dimple
Pattern. The Black Cartridge Flex Test Matrix in Table Chapter 4 .6
below shows the grounds, power pins, address lines, and jet numbers
for each jet.
non-functioning jet(s) by examining the plot printed during the
Cartridge Diagnostic Test, use the Black Cartridge Flex Test Matrix to
determine which ground, pin, and address line to test. Conduct the
test as follows:
1. Connect 1 probe from the Ohm Meter to one of the 8 power pins.
2. Connect 1 probe from the Ohm Meter to the 9 Volt Battery and to
the correct ground for the power pin.
3. Connect the 10K resistor from the 9 Volt Battery to the appropriate
address line(s) (one at a time) in order to test the jet(s).
4. You should see 36.4Ω (+ 1.0Ω - 2.0Ω)
5. If you are testing another jet(s) that has a different ground and
power pin, move the probes to that ground and power pin and
connect the 10K resistor to the appropriate address line(s).
6. If the jet(s) tested shows the proper result, you can assume that
the flex is OK. In that case, return to Table Chapter 4 .5 in this
chapter for further instructions, beginning with "REPLACE
CARTRIDGE IF NECESSARY" (in Action Number 6).
